T-ray

An electromagnetic wave with a frequency intermediate between, and sharing the properties of, short radio waves and long infrared waves, generally in the 0.1 to 10 terahertz (THz) band of frequencies.

T-shirt

A lightweight shirt without buttons, usually with short sleeves and no collar. Often made of cotton and frequently bears a picture or slogan.

T-top

An automobile roof with a removable panel on each side of a rigid bar running from the center of one structural bar between pillars to the center of the next structural bar.

The letting of one timber into another by alternate scores or projections, as in shipbuilding; a crude form of dovetailing.

taft

To spread the end of a pipe outward so as to form a wide thin flange.

takt time

On a production line, the average production time per unit that is necessary to meet customer demand.

tap

A cylindrical tool used to cut an internal screw thread in a hole, with cutting edges around the lower end and an upper end to which a handle is fitted to turn the tool.

tape

A strong flexible band rotating on pulleys for directing the sheets in a printing machine.

taphole

In a blast furnace, a hole which molten metal or slag is tapped off through.

tar boil

A small bubble or blister in the flood coat of an aggregate-surfaced built-up membrane

A semiconvertible car body style with a removable roof section and a full-width roll bar behind the seats.

A Burmese agricultural technique in which the spaces between small, widely-spaced trees are used to plant a seasonal crop.

tax horsepower

A country-specific calculation of the approximate power delivered by an automobile engine, used to determine a vehicle's road taxation rate. Modern systems may also take emissions into account.

The demolition phase of a reroofing job, wherein the old shingles or other materials are torn off in preparation for the installation of new ones.

Initialism of thermoelectric cooler: an electrical heat-transferring device which applies the Peltier effect.
